Ellen Mulvenna

I began making pots while attending Arizona State University.  I have a degree in Art Education with clay being my medium of choice.  I am a studio artist with a background in teaching.  I was drawn to clay because of its response by our hands.  We all made the mud pies as kids, but to build on that idea as an adult.....priceless!

My current work comprises of both thrown and handbuilding techniques and the inspiration is drawn from my everyday experiences with the people in my life and the places I like to visit and explore.  We are in late fall now and the beauty of the falling leaves and crisp air inspire me to create pieces that are warm in both their appearance and function.

I really enjoy teaching and am currently involved in the Adult education program at our local high school.  16 newbies in the class and the room is buzzing with fun and wonder.  While I have been working with clay for more than 30 years, I have only scratched the surface with the medium and with every every pot I make, the excitement is still there and I'm humbled by the gift I have been given with these hands.
